Easter Bake Sale
For two weeks, we planned and organized an Easter Bake Sale to raise funds for our upcoming projects. As a team, we were able to cook up and decorate fancy homemade cookies, brownies and cupcakes topped with marshmellow Peeps and jelly bean eggs!
"Happy Easter to the world!"
Food for the Homeless
With the mission to give back to those less fornunate, Global Voices hosted a Service Day where young volunteers came together to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the homeless in our community. We made over 200 hand-made sandwiches to donate! The experience was a great team building activity but the giving was the most humbling.
"We made over 200 hand-made sandwiches to donate!"
Google Made with Code
After working so hard during our first year, Global Voices was invited by Google to attend the Made With Code party in NYC! All of the participants were excited as the girls prepped their professional attires and skills. At the event, we learned basic coding as an attempt to teach young girls that they too have a voice in the growing tech industry.
"Girls can code too!"
Dr. Seuss Day
Dr. Seuss is one of our all-time favorite authors. We were able to team up with a 1st grade class and do a read aloud of "Green Eggs and Ham." We wanted to show the little readers that reading is fun! We also gave each lttle reader a cute bag filled with Dr. Seuss and reading goodies! Oh the places we'll go... :)
"I <3 reading!"
